HOW CAN MY LANGUAGE TOWN BOOKS HELP YOU?

Frequently asked question

So much has changed for all of us over the past weeks. We all are adapting to the many personal and professional challenges. It has also changed dramatically the way in which you will learn and teach. We know that you will face many personal and professional challenges, we know too that challenges always bring out the best in all of us. We are here to support you to use this time to learn another language or teach it to someone else. You can do it!

My Language Town are Digital Libraries of books and to learn Spanish (K-12th), French (6th to 12th) and German (6th to 12th). We also offer a Digital Library of Spanish Songs (K-12th).

The books are divided into 3 libraries.
  • Elementary Library: it has a red bar at the bottom (K-5th grade - these books are focused on younger kids)
  • Beginner Library: it has a blue bar at the bottom (level 1 or 1-2 - for first/second year students)
  • Intermediate Library: it has a green bar at the bottom (level 2 onwards)

The age group.
  • The elementary Library is for K-5th graders.
  • The Beginner Library is for any Level 1 or Level 2 class (Middle School to adults)

Each book has a number on the cover on the right bottom corner. Ex. 1 or 1-2, or 2-4. It means that you could think about using the books with those levels. Ex. Spanish 1, Spanish 2, etc.
Those numbers are just an orientation as the level 1 for one school or individual may be very different from the level 1 in another school based on many factors.
Also, some classes may use a book for Level 1-2 like Aventuras de Guille y Marta ˇPerú! at the end of the first year as a great review for the content learned that year, and use several weeks to read it, while some teachers/ students of Level 3 may use it at the beginning of the year as a quick review or as an assignment for Summer Reading.

There is no fixed number as our libraries keep expanding :) Currently we have these books in each library, but the number keeps growing.
  • Elementary Library: 50 approx.
  • Beginner Library: 25 approx.
  • Intermediate Library: 50 approx.
This is because the books could be used in any of those classes. Some teachers can use the book at a lower level, and spend more time in class or read it faster in a higher level class.

From the moment that an individual or a school gets any of My Language Town Libraries, you will have access to all the e-Books in that level. This is a great opportunity for differentiation in the class or as a family to keep reading and mastering the language. It is a BARGAIN! You can have access to all the books at a really low price! And also you will be motivated to read more.

No, the books are not allowed to be printed. However, you can print the Vocabulary and Activities. We always recommend printing 2 pages on each page (make the choice in Print Options).

Yes, we highly recommend it to do it for some of the books. As you keep reading you will not need to do it for all. You will choose to only read some of the books or complete some of the activities, depending on the area that you would like to focus on. We always recommend printing 2 pages on each page (make the choice in Print Options). The font is bigger so it is easier for teachers to project on a screen if they wish to read some sections as a class. It would not look good if you print it on one page.

Not at all. One of the things that people love about My Language Town e-Books is the flexibility. Some teachers/students may want to read a book in detail and do many of the activities to enhance comprehension, expand the students’ vocabulary, and review or present the grammar needed for their curriculum (Ex. Aventuras de Guille y Marta ˇPERÚ!, ˇMADRID! …) However, on other occasions, you may just read a book in class for fun without completing any of the
activities at a particular time of the year (ex. Un Halloween inolvidable) or a theme in a unit, and you don’t have much time to do the activities.
Remember that the books offer a lot of options you can decide what activities (if any) work best for your needs.
The beauty is that you have a choice, you have everything there done for you. You just need to choose what works best.

Yes. Same as with the activities. We recommend printing 2 pages in one page, as the font is big so that it can be projected on the screen.

The best thing is to look at one of the books, and start with an easy book. Even for higher levels. If it is too easy, the students will be able to read it faster. Once the students start building their vocabulary, they will feel more confident with the reading and you can keep adding books.

Sure. It is very hard to make a choice. We always recommend Aventuras de Guille y Marta ˇPerú! to get started by the end of Level 1. This is a great book for the mid-end of Year 1, beginning of year 2, for students that took Spanish a while ago and they forgot it… It is a great review of the content from that level. The students hooked with the characters and many continue reading more in the series on their own.

There are so many books to choose from! Here are some suggestions to get you started. Try to get the students hooked with the characters so that they can continue reading on their own during the rest of the year and during the summer.
